FastTrack Service Patients with non life threatening injuries and illnesses may now utilize a Fast Track Service adjacent to the critical care area. It features a separate, five-bed area and waiting room staffed by an emergency physician and nurses. Fast Track allows medical professionals to handle minor emergencies more quickly and reduce waiting and turn-around times for patients.
Behavioral Health Patients with acute mental health issues are now triaged into a new, five-bed Behavioral Health area that offers a private and less stressful environment with additional and upgraded treatment rooms.
Cardiac Care Patients with chest pain and cardiac issues are immediately screened, evaluated, and treated with modern diagnostic and monitoring equipment by emergency care physicians and specialized cardiology staff. These professionals coordinate with area interventional cardiac specialists to initiate treatment and transport for more severe cases.
LIFE STAR The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Hungerford Emergency and Medical Care in Winsted utilize Hartford Hospital's LIFE STAR helicopter air medical transport service when it is necessary to transfer a patient to a coordinating facility. LIFE STAR is available to emergency and critical care patients within a 150-mile area surrounding Hartford, and transports approximately 1,400 patients each year.
