The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital strives to keep patients safe at all times and is dedicated to the prevention of patient falls.

The Red Socks Program is a new fall prevention initiative designed to prevent at-risk patients from falling. As part of the program, every patient is placed on “Universal Safety Precautions”. All patients are assessed for the risk for falling when they are admitted and throughout their stay so that proper steps are initiated by an R.N. to ensure patient safety.

When at the Hospital, you may see patients wearing red socks, which is a way medical staff identify those at-risk of falling and ensure their proper care.
