Since 1996, this special program has provided educational outreach and screening funds to assure that the women of Northwest Connecticut have comprehensive, coordinated access to services related to breast cancer prevention and treatment. Hospital community program staff work in conjunction with the CT Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program to ensure that medically underserved women, typically those greater than 40 years old, are being educated about breast cancer and programs that help defer the cost of screening services. A grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation allows CHH to assist women, and in particular an increasing Hispanic/Latino population, by promoting education and screening in the prevention of breast cancer.
