The Hospital’s Patient Care Support Network (PCSN) is a comprehensive, integrated network of computers whose sole purpose is to assist the hospital’s physicians, nurses, ancillary, and support staff in making the best possible medical care decisions and assist them in carrying out patient care plans as flawlessly as possible. PCSN will be digitally interfaced to the majority of the hospital’s diagnostic and treatment equipment systems allowing critically important clinical information to arrive instantaneously and accurately. This will ensure that critical data will be available to the right professionals at the right time resulting in better outcomes.
Implementing the PCSN will require an estimated $8 million investment over the next several years. CHH is currently fundraising for the project with a goal of raising $2 Million from grants, government support, and donations from businesses, foundations, and private individuals. The remaining funding will be supported by the hospital’s Capital Replacement Fund.
Capital campaign funding for the PCSN is being used to allow CHH to proceed with the integration of advanced clinical functions into the existing system and upgrade the infrastructure necessary to support new equipment, security, connectivity, and disaster recovery. The IT advancements will perform many of the tasks that physicians and nurses now do manually, resulting in many benefits for patients, their families, and medical staff.
“This information technology project is critically important to the future of patient care as our employees and medical staff work closely to procure and implement the right “tools” they need to provide excellent care.” said Dan McIntyre, President and Executive Director at Charlotte.
