Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) was pleased to accept a $8,000 donation from Torrington Big Y to benefit the Hospital’s Pink Rose Breast Cancer Fund. The donation is a portion of Big Y’s 6th Annual Partners of Hope Campaign which raised $194,000 last fall from its stores throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts to distribute to individual communities and charities in the communities they serve.
Ellen Ebbs, Director of Development at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, accepted the award at the Torrington Big Y location. “This generous gift is a much needed contribution to this critical fund for women in Norwest Connecticut. We are extremely grateful for the support Big Y has provided to help local women facing the challenges of breast cancer.” she added.
Since 1996, the Pink Rose Fund has provided educational outreach and screening funds to ensure that the women of Northwest Connecticut have comprehensive, coordinated access to services related to breast cancer prevention, treatment, testing and screenings. CHH Breast Health Navigator, Leslie Handelman who oversees the Pink Rose Fund and its efforts to assist women was also on hand to thank Big Y for their support.
“Thank you for all you do for awareness, research, and support of Breast Cancer. We know that both our employees and our customers appreciate your efforts.” said Claire M. D’Amour-Daley, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Big Y Foods, Inc.
