(Torrington, CT) The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Center For Cancer Care will be hosting a presentation entitled “PREPARE FOR SURGERY: Calm Fears Before – Recover Well” conducted by Certified Hypnotist Roger Newbury, MS, on Tuesday June 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the NWCT Chamber of Commerce, 333 Kennedy Drive, Torrington.
This presentation is geared to help individuals who are facing surgery or other medical procedures. Participants will learn mind-body techniques to prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically for surgery and heal better with less pain and discomfort. Topics to be discussed include how to use guided imagery and hypnotapping to calm fears and promote relaxation, building a “buddy system” of family and friends for support, visualizing a successful procedure and outcome and practicing positive self-talk.
The program will include a lecture, slide presentation, and instruction on techniques with lots of practice. Informational handouts will be available and a question and answer session will follow the program. Light refreshments will be served.
