The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) has formed the Greater Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Healthcare Coalition, a group that will bring together the hospital and a range of Northwest Connecticut healthcare organizations and partners to develop and maintain critical emergency preparedness plans and strategies.
CHH and has been coordinating emergency preparedness planning activities for many years, and felt it was the ideal time to formalize its relationship with its local community partners. The new coalition will serve as a multi-agency coordinating group for emergency management and emergency support functions between the Hospital and participating facilities, including preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation activities. This coalition plans to meet two times per year.
Several organizations signed on at a meeting June 18th as a part of coalition including local communities, homecare agencies, medical supply providers, pharmacies, the Torrington senior center, northwest nutritional program, EMS and fire organizations, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living agencies and the Torrington area health district.
Through this collaboration, all participating agencies will be able to coordinate their preparation and response during natural disasters, and emergencies, that affect local communities. Communication and information sharing will better link the local healthcare partners with Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, and the surrounding communities.
Paul Rabeuf, CHH EMS and Emergency Management Coordinator, has spearheaded the coordination of area emergency preparedness and worked to form the coalition. “The hospital and area healthcare stakeholders and agencies have been working together to improve communications and planning during disasters for several years. This new partnership formalizes this relationship and commitment ensuring we are all ready when needed most.” he commented.
The Coalition will be meeting again in the fall. If your agency is interested in getting more information or joining the coalition, please contact Paul Rabeuf at firstname.lastname@example.org
