Free Spirit Lady Harley Riders Donate $2,900 To Local Cancer Fund

The Torrington based “Free Spirit” Lady Harley Riders Motorcycle Club has recently made a donation of $2,900 to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s Cancer Care Fund of Litchfield Hills. The funds were raised at the group’s 12th annual fund-raiser held this past September in Colebrook, CT, which featured music by the Local Suspects, over 40 donated raffle items, and monetary contributions from many area businesses.

This was the eighth consecutive year the group has raised money for the fund. They have donated over $20,000 in total since they began contributing. The donations are used to assist and support cancer patients residing or receiving care in northwest Connecticut through care, treatment, education and prevention programs.

Each year, support and donations for the event have risen allowing the group a greater ability to help others. Unfortunately, cancer has become all too familiar to many people and their families so “Free Spirit” members understand both on a personal and a family level the importance of the fund’s mission. Cancer survivors who attended this year’s benefit received a rose along with a lavender shaped pin inscribed with the word “Survivor” in lavender which represents all forms of cancer.

The woman of “Free Spirit” are honored and humbled to associate with amazingly strong giving people of all ages. They would like to highlight and thank all the supporters and contributors of this year’s event including Don Clady for promoting the event in the CT Cruise News and all of the club member’s family, friends and those who attended the event.

This year’s sponsors include: Hot Tomato’s, Matthew’s Restaurant, Chatterly’s Restaurant, Saybrook Fish House in Canton, Michel Angelo’s, Mario’s, Tuscany Grill & Bar, The Tributary Restaurant, Back Stage, Monaco’s Restaurant, Scarpelli’s, Salerno’s Import and Deli, Vinny’s Pizza, ABC Pizza, Kent Pizza, R&B Sports, The SHOP, Wags to Wiskers, First & Last Tavern in Plainville, Starbucks in Avon, Chili’s in Avon, Yankee Harley, Greenman Tattoo Studio, Bottle Shop of Unionville, Shock & Awe, CT Calendar Girls, Skirps Auto body, Brookfield Auto Body, Woodland Auto body, Ace Auto Body, O’Lenders Inc., Joseph’s Auto, TMJ Auto Body, Faye Pratillo, R& S Rentals & Sales, Health Food Corner, Michael’s Jewelry, Tattoo’s by Candace, LLC, Hair by Design, City Cycle, Mommy & Me, George’s Pizza, Semac Electrical Contractors, Lick’s Towing (MA), Denise Shannon, Bohemian Pizza, Nick’s Diner in Bethlehem, Bethlehem Spirit Shop, Bethlehem Package Store, Jay Flynn, and Bare Bones BBQ.
