CHH Receives $9,000 Grant From Big Y To Support Pink Rose Breast Cancer Fund

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) was pleased to recently accept a $9,000 donationBig Y 14 from Torrington Big Y to benefit the Hospital’s Pink Rose Breast Cancer Fund. The donation is a portion of Big Y’s 7th Annual Partners of Hope Campaign which raised $217,000 this past year at its stores throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts to distribute to individual communities and charities in the communities they serve. 

Tracy Lambertson, Store Director at Torrington Big Y, recently presented the check for $9,000 to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Early Detection Program Coordinator Marie McFadden and Leslie Handelman, R.N., CHH Breast Health Nurse Navigator who will use the funds in their efforts to assist local women obtain breast cancer screenings.  

“This generous gift is a much needed contribution to this critical fund for women in Northwest Connecticut. We are extremely grateful for the support Big Y has provided to help local women facing the challenges of breast cancer.” said Handelman.

Since 1996, the Pink Rose Fund has provided educational outreach and screening funds to ensure that the women of Northwest Connecticut have comprehensive, coordinated access to services related to breast cancer prevention, treatment, testing and screenings. CHH Breast Health Navigator, Leslie Handelman who oversees the Pink Rose Fund and its efforts to assist women was also on hand to thank Big Y for their support.
