The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary is displaying the drawings and paintings of local artist Jim Koplar through early March 2014 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. The public is invited to view the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of these paintings support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
“My subjects convey a more contemplative mood, perhaps a desire to slow down in this often times hurried world.” said artist Jim Koplar. The collection of his works on display is in pastel, acrylic, oil and graphite.
Jim teaches drawing workshops for continuing education programs and art league presentations, group and individual lessons, and as a guest presenter at The University of Hartford. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of the drawing process with others and finds great satisfaction watching students discover their hidden talents. In August 2013, Jim moved his studio from the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon to Whiting Mills in Winsted, Connecticut. Visit jimkoplar.com or call 860-508-4630 for his studio hours of operation and other information.
The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fall fashion show and luncheon.
