(Torrington, CT) – The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has signed a long-term lease with the Winsted Health Center Foundation effective April 1st, 2014, to keep and enhance its emergency department and medical services at its current location at 115 Spencer Street in Winsted.
The agreement commits both the hospital and foundation to each invest $700,000 for a total of $1.4M in combined funds that will be used to renovate and upgrade the existing building and grounds by the end of 2014. These improvements will include upgrades to the existing heating, cooling, electrical, and telecommunication systems, a roof replacement, new lighting and window frames, and interior and exterior paint. Also planned are landscaping improvements including new walkways, signage, roadways and parking lot upgrades.
“When completed, the renovations will allow CHH to continue to provide accessible, high quality, patient-friendly care to the greater Winsted area utilizing the best staff and technology. We believe by taking this action, we are affirming the hospital’s long-term commitment to providing the best possible medical care available today.” said John Capobianco, Vice President of Operations at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
“We are excited for what the future holds in Winsted and surrounding communities as we renew our long term relationship with Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. At minimum, the expansion service offerings will benefit all of us for years to come.” said Chris Battista, President of the Board of Directors of the Winsted Health Center Foundation.
After considering many options to enhance the medical services it provides to the greater Winsted area, including a relocation of services, CHH made a final decision to invest with the Winsted Foundation on renovation options for their existing location. All CHH services including the emergency department, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs, blood drawing, laboratory, x-ray, digital mammography, and sleep center will remain at their current location now and in the future.
When completed, the renovations will allow CHH to continue to provide accessible, high quality, patient-friendly care to the greater Winsted area utilizing the best staff and technology available. CHH is confident that this project and future space will maintain its ability to sustain and improve medical care for the long term.
