(Torrington, CT) The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary is displaying the work of local painter Erik Petrosky, 13 years old, through early July 2014 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. The public is invited to view the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of these works support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Erik’s passion and love of art started at a young age as a toddler living in Miami, Florida, where he spent his time crafting and making art with colored pencils and acrylic paint. At the age of 10, Erik was inspired to create art using spray paint after a vacation to New York City. Self-taught and with only one art class, he continues to learn from his parents, other artists, books and YouTube. Beyond painting, Erik enjoys graphic design using Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver to edit pictures, create logos and design websites.
“Using new digital technology allows me to incorporate my art into a business. In the future I would like to continue painting and also use my talents as a web designer and filmmaker.” said artist Erik Petrosky.
The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fall fashion show and luncheon.
