(Torrington, CT) – Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH), the Northwest CT YMCA and Torrington Missfits Boot Camp are proud to present the Stronger Women, Stronger World, 5K Obstacle Challenge. The event, exclusively for women, will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at Northwestern Regional School District 7 (Winchester). All funds raised from the event will benefit the Susan B. Anthony Project, the Northwest CT YMCA Girls Sports Initiative, CHH’s Pink Rose Fund and CHH’s Cardiac Rehab’s “Go Red for Women.”
The 5K Challenge begins at 9 a.m. and is open to women of all abilities ages 12 and up. The obstacles include natural terrain, climbing walls and hills, a tire run, hay bale hurdles and more. Mile markers, a water station, digital timing, and awards will be offered the day of the event. T-shirts are also included for anyone registering by July 23rd.
“Our goal for this event is to help empower women to be better and stronger than they ever thought they could be. Our funding choices also reinforce our belief and desire to have women helping women in Northwest Connecticut” says Mandy Hill, Director of Rehabilitation at CHH/Race Organizer.
The registration fee is $40 per participant and $35 per participant for teams of 5 or more before July 23rd. Teams are strongly encouraged. After July 23rd, the registration fee will be $45 for per participant is and $40 for each participant on a team of 5 or more.
