(Torrington, CT) – Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) is pleased to offer a limited number of free colonoscopies to qualified uninsured or underinsured men and women in Litchfield County through the CHH Early Detection Program. Candidates must be between the ages of 50 and 64 and have never received a screening before. The program will pay for an office visit with a primary care physician or gastroenterology associate as well as all costs associated with the colonoscopy, including the anesthesiology charge and polyp removal if needed.
Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States among men and women. A Colonoscopy can detect pre-cancerous polyps that can be removed and can detect cancers that require treatment.
