(Torrington, CT) – The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary is displaying the paintings of artist Claudia Wood Rahm through early August 2015 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. The public is invited to view the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Wood Rahm earned a degree in Art Education and taught, however she was never studio trained. In 2010 she resumed painting after many years devoted to her family and work. The designs and colors in Wood Rahm’s work ranges from elemental to intricate, often revealing whimsical creatures and fantastical landscapes. A major influence on her work has been children, who inspire her to make fun and bold choices when painting.
“Color and design in the abstracts continue to both surprise and delight me,” said Wood Rahm.
The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fall fashion show and luncheon.
