(Torrington, CT) – Do you have 5 minutes of your time to learn a life-saving skill? “Keep the Beat” and stop by the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) and New Hartford Volunteer Ambulance tent and get a FREE “Hands only” CPR lesson at New Hartford Day, Sunday, September 20th, Brodie Park, New Hartford, CT.
CHH and the New Hartford Ambulance will be conducting ongoing, 5-minute training sessions from 10 AM to 4 PM at New Hartford Day set to the beat of the disco hit “Staying Alive.” Organizers have set an ambitious goal of getting 300 participants to take the “Hands Only” CPR class.
“We are challenging everyone in our community to stop by and take our two-step, five minute life-saving CPR class. It’s simple, fun, and will give you the skills and confidence you need to recognize and immediately act when you witness someone in cardiac arrest.” said Nicholas Maltby, AEMT, Vice President New Hartford Volunteer Ambulance Service.

New Hartford Day is a great opportunity to find out what is going on in New Hartford, meet with neighbors and friends, and enjoy a good old fashioned country fair. This year the fair plans a salute to the people who work in Emergency Services and Public Protection who work so tirelessly to care for residents during emergencies, protect lives and property in a fire, and safeguard town resources.
Over 65 businesses and civic organizations participate in the fair providing great music, food, antique tractors, area vendors, as well as the annual Eureka Grange Fair.
The New Hartford Volunteer Ambulance Association (NHVA) was formed in 1968. NHVA provides pre-hospital emergency medical care to New Hartford, Barkhamsted and West Hartland. Through mutual aid agreements, they provide emergency medical services to neighboring communities. NHVA Emergency Medical Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to all those in need. The Association responds to an average of 800-1000 emergency calls each year. Currently, and has over 80 volunteers serving as EMTs, Drivers, EMRs and Explorers.
