(Torrington, CT)  Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Diabetes and Endocrinology will present “What’s New In Diabetes?”, a health talk on Wednesday, November 11th at 6:30 p.m. at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Memorial Conference Room, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. Every November, the American Diabetes Association encourages the public to learn more about diabetes and the risks associated with the disease. Diabetes is a serious disease that affects the body’s ability to produce or respond properly to insulin, a hormone that allows blood glucose (sugar) to enter the cells of the body and be used for energy.

CHH Diabetes and Endocrinology at 780 Litchfield Street, Torrington, offers comprehensive and multi-disciplinary approach to diabetes treatment and disease management.  The team of board certified diabetes physician specialists, certified diabetes educators, registered dietitians, and social workers are specifically trained to help people with diabetes avoid complications and maintain better health throughout their lifetime.

The practice employs new technology including the continuous glucose-monitoring device, which fits just under the skin and measures blood glucose levels every five minutes and is as innovative as the discovery of insulin treatment. In addition, the practice operates an American Diabetes Association recognized program to help people with diabetes and offers insulin pump training, weight loss programs, carbohydrate counting classes, blood glucose awareness training and continuous glucose monitoring.

The practice accepts most major insurances. For questions and to schedule an appointment, call (860) 496-2198.
