(Torrington, CT) – The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group’s next meeting will feature a question and answer forum with patients and caregivers on living with Pulmonary Fibrosis. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 7, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Memorial Conference Hall, Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Memorial Building, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington, CT.
Guest speakers will be lung transplant recipients Joseph Fontana and John Morthanos, Laura Roix, a patient undergoing testing for possible lung transplant, and caregiver Diana Salius. Meetings are free and designed for people who are currently experiencing Pulmonary Fibrosis and their families. The group is facilitated by John Morthanos, Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation ambassador and lung transplant recipient and Susan Murphy, RCP, of the CHH Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department and meets quarterly.
The support group offers accurate, up-to-date information about Pulmonary Fibrosis, including symptoms, management, forms of treatment, clinical trials and ongoing research. The group talks openly about the challenges of living with PF in a comfortable and safe environment, exchange ideas, compare experiences, and learn from others. It is also a place where mutual emotional support and empowerment is offered, and where people can develop relationships and friendships with others who have experienced similar situations.
The group is supported by the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation whose mission is to serve as the trusted resource for the pulmonary fibrosis community by raising awareness, providing disease education, and funding research. For more information about Pulmonary Fibrosis, visit www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org
