(Torrington, CT) – The Torrington based “Free Spirit” Lady Harley Riders Motorcycle Club have made a donation of $2,150 to the Cancer Care Fund of Litchfield Hills. The funds were raised at the group’s annual fund-raiser held this past October in Winsted, CT, which featured live music, over 40 donated raffle items, and monetary contributions from many area businesses.
Representatives of the club presented the fund board with the gift making 2016 the eleventh consecutive year the group has raised money for the cause. They have donated over $25,000 in total since they began contributing. The donations are used to assist and support cancer patients residing or receiving care in northwest Connecticut through care, treatment, education and prevention programs.
Each year, support and donations for the event have risen allowing the group a greater ability to help others. Unfortunately, cancer has become all too familiar to many people and their families so “Free Spirit” members understand both on a personal and a family level the importance of the fund’s mission.
The woman of “Free Spirit” are honored and humbled to associate with amazingly strong giving people of all ages. They would like to highlight and thank all the supporters and contributors of this year’s event including Don Clady for promoting the event in the CT Cruise News and all of the club member’s family, friends and those who attended the event. Free Spirit members are a group of like minded professional women who share the passion of riding and love for the open road and are bonded by their involvement in community service. Their insignia is a purple rose with the crossbones, which symbolize women, femininity and companionship.
