Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Rehabilitation, the Northwest Connecticut YMCA and Torrington Missfits Boot Camp held their 3nd Annual Stronger Women-Stronger World 5K Obstacle Challenge this past summer raising $6,000 for four local charities that serve women in northwest CT. The Susan B. Anthony Project, CHH’s Pink Rose Fund, The Sunrise Foundation, and the NWCT YMCA’s Young Women’s Sports Initiative each received a check for $1,500 to support their programs.
“Our goal for this event was to empower women to be better and stronger than they ever thought they could be and to raise funds to help support women in our community. We are grateful to our participants, volunteers and sponsors who helped us present an opportunity to have women helping women in Northwest Connecticut” says Mandy Hill, Rehabilitation Manager at CHH/Race Organizer.
At this year’s event, 153 women participated in the event which was held this past summer at Northwestern Regional School District 7 in Winchester. The obstacles included natural terrain, climbing walls and hills, a tire run, hay bale hurdles and more, all of which challenged each participant. A special thank you to our Gold sponsors – Charles J Calder Jr., and Torrington Subaru.
