Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) recently recognized the continuing efforts, dedication and service of its volunteer corps at its recent annual volunteer awards ceremony at the Crystal Peak Banquet Hall during National Volunteer Appreciation week. Over 160 junior and senior volunteers donated a total of over 14,000 free hours of service in 2016.
Volunteers, members of the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Board of Governors, and CHH leadership staff attended the reception to recognize the important contributions made by volunteers. CHH officials thanked them for sharing their time helping others. This year, volunteer Edward Potter was recognized for the volunteer with the most accumulated hours of lifetime volunteer service to the hospital at 12,300 hours.
Using this year’s theme was “Volunteers make the world a better place”, the volunteers were recognized for their years of services and the number of hours they have given to the hospital. Volunteers received certificates and pins in recognition of their service. The event ended with a special magic show.
“We are very grateful for the dedication of all of our volunteers. They provide a tremendous service to our patients and our community. They are ambassadors of good will, and really do touch our lives and lift our spirits in many ways” said Shelli Rhoads, Coordinator of Volunteer Services.
Volunteers serve the hospital as transport aides, TLC ambassadors, lab greeters, patient representatives, and patient information and registration desk attendants. They provide services for The Center for Cancer Care, Hungerford Emergency and Medical Care in Winsted, Hungerford Diabetes Center, CHH Emergency and Medical Center in Winsted, in the Hospital’s Human Resources Department, Emergency Department, and Gift Shop.
