Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) nurse and educator Anne Vilhotti, MSN, RN, was recently inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau National Nurses Society at a recent special dinner attended by peers and coworkers. She has worked in many areas and capacities at CHH since beginning in 1989, including medical oncology, nursing supervision, Information technology, nursing education and presently the Director of Innovation.
In her current position, Anne is involved with all hospital departments in assuring quality care, overseeing infection and wound care prevention measures. Anne is also involved in many hospital initiatives lending her strong voice in support of the profession of nursing. In addition Anne regularly participates in the orientation of Quinnipiac University students as well as other nursing programs to CHH. She has always firmly believed that in order for the students to safely practice and deliver quality care to the patients, a thorough orientation was of the utmost importance.
“It is a huge honor to work with Anne. She provides everyone with such insight and experience that help all of us do our jobs better. Her voice in nursing is so important.” said CHH Nursing Education Specialist and colleague Debra Fisher. “As a nurse educator she was always involved in this process and now as an administrator firmly backs this process with her support. She is supportive of the students as our future health care workforce and assures that they have a welcoming and solid beginning to their clinical rotation.”
In 1922, six nurses founded the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) at the Indiana University Training School for Nurses, which is now the Indiana University School of Nursing, in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. STTI membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing. Here are some additional facts about our membership: STT has more than 135,000 active members that reside in more than 90 countries.
