he Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary is featuring the wild bird photography of Al Erickson now through early April 2018 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. The public is invited to view and buy the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Al Erickson has recently concluded a three-month long exhibit at the New Morning Market in Woodbury, CT to benefit the Bent of the River Audubon Center in Southbury and is pleased once again to exhibit for the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary.
“I have already traveled quite a bit this year in search of birds along the Gulf of Mexico, spending most of my time in Florida and Texas. I must say the recent storms have left their mark on each of these states, with structural damage to homes and businesses as well as natural areas including bird habit, parks, and wilderness areas. Birds are noticeably absent in both states, and rejuvenation will take time.” Said photographer Al Erickson.
Erickson states that if there is a particular bird that is not in this exhibit, make it known in the gift shop and he will try to make it available for you. A card on the back of each frame provides the name of the bird as well as the location for the photo.
The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fall fashion show and luncheon.
