The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary is featuring the local paintings of Bernard Jucevics now through early August 2018 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. The public is invited to view and buy the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Bernard Jucevics was born in Eastern Europe in 1939. He is a self-taught landscape artist who paints primarily in acrylics. He couples his passion for art with his love for nature in order to create a wide variety of landscape paintings. A lush meadow, a forest, or the setting sun provides all the inspiration he needs to transform a blank canvas into a work of art.
This is Bernard’s fifth art show through the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to these successful displays, he has also had his artwork featured in various galleries throughout Litchfield County. He was also the first place winner in an art contest presented through the Blick Art Supply Company. Also, Bernard has recently expanded his art displays to other areas of Connecticut. In addition, he donates some of his artwork to fundraisers and other humanitarian causes.
Bernard is always seeking new techniques that will further improve his artistry. He enjoys creating atmospheric paintings that draw you into the beauty of nature. His passion for painting has been a meaningful part of his retirement and his later life development as an artist is inspirational. It serves as a reminder that creativity can blossom at any age.
The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fall fashion show.
