The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary is featuring the artwork of Annie Fraser now through early September 2018 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. The public is invited to view and buy the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Annie is a lifelong resident of East Litchfield living in a home which has been in her family for close to 100 years. She spends her time with her nearby family which includes children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, many extended family groups and friends both old and new. Her passion is for beautiful things, antiques, historical items and architecture, travel, cooking and creating paintings which show her varied interests. She loves trying new techniques. During her years of retirement, she pursues her love of painting and has been featured in many local galleries, exhibits and shops on the west coast of Florida, returning to Connecticut each summer to share her efforts locally.
Annie has taught painting to others to begin their artistic journey and offers support and experience to other artists. She draws from memories and emotions to guide her paint onto the canvases, creating one of a kind art. Donating art to those who might not have the opportunity to add paintings to their environment is one of her special interests. Under the name Bottoms Up, she also paints glassware to order and creates embellished serving pieces.
The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fall fashion show and luncheon.
