CHH Auxiliary October Artist of the Month Now Showing

The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) Auxiliary is featuring the artwork of Gerald Hardy now through early November 2018 in the hospital’s main lobby hallway, 540 Litchfield Street, Torrington. The public is invited to view and buy the works during regular visiting hours as part of the Auxiliary’s ongoing “Artist of the Month” program. A portion of the proceeds from sales of the artwork support the CHH Auxiliary and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

Gerald Hardy graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1960. He has worked in watercolors, oils, and sculpture and has moved on to develop unique techniques in his etchings and paintings.  His one-person exhibitions include Interchurch Center Gallery in New York City, University of Chicago, and galleries in the Midwest, California, New England, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida.  His work is in collections of the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Mint Museum in Charlotte, Ford Motor Company, and in more than 2,000 private collections.

Many of Mr. Hardy’s paintings depict small towns, lakes, rivers, and waterfronts of beautiful New England. “I often go up in a small plane or helicopter,” says the artist.  I like looking down on the earth.  It gives me a spiritual feeling to see landscapes and mountains stretching in all directions.

The Auxiliary’s “Artist of the Month” program has been featuring paintings, photographs, and artwork each month from local artists for over 25 years. Their over 200 member supporters assist in raising money for the hospital through dues, donations, volunteering at the gift shop, and a variety of events including an annual fashion show.
